WHAT WOULD REVIVAL LOOK LIKE?

New data from England and Wales, which tend to experience cultural shifts before the US, show that church attendance among Gen Z young adults has QUADRUPLED in the last six years 🔥 Young adults there are twice as likely to attend church as their parents. This trend is being driven by young men, who are twice as likely as young women to attend church. (See the second graph.) The most likely person in England and Wales to go to church right now is an 18-24-year-old male 😲 (Credit: Ryan Burge)

The next two graphs are for the US and show a similar trend. Yes, fewer young adults identify as Christian compared to older adults. However, those young adults who identify as Christian are more likely to attend church weekly—a sign that they take their faith more seriously. Two things can be true at the same time for Generation Z! First, there are more young adults who say they’re not religious. That’s the bad news. Second, at the same time, those who are Christian take their faith more seriously than ever; more seriously than their parents' generation. That’s great news. It means that there are fewer “cultural” Christians who claim faith but don’t practice it, and more convictional Christians for whom following Jesus affects their daily life.

Revival occurs when God accomplishes in a short period of time what usually takes years or a generation. Revivals are common in America’s past. As the love of God grows cold, God often awakens the church through revival. However, a nationwide revival has not occurred in two generations since the Jesus Movement of the 1960s. Join me in praying that it will happen again, and soon! 🙏
