SOMETIMES PARENTS ARE THE HURDLE

Sometimes parents are the hurdle. Gen Z has a closer, more trusting, and more dependent relationship with their parents than any previous generation. Often, this is good! But many times, it's to the detriment of a student's faith. Especially when their child experiences personal revival. Anxious parents can become more concerned with careers than souls. They tell their kids, “Don’t become too religious.” "Don't get baptized again." "Don't go on that mission trip." "Don't consider ministry as a vocation." I've seen Christian parents be a bigger obstacle than non-Christian friends to their child's discipleship. Teresa and I told our boys, "We want you to do well in school & life, but we REALLY want you to walk with Jesus." Parents, eternity matters more than salary. Obedience matters more than financial security. Let their growing faith help grow your faith! Yes, encourage them to be responsible and wise. But even more, fan the flames of their love & surrender to Jesus!
