The New Prosperity Gospel

The prosperity gospel of the previous generation promised that God would grant FINANCIAL prosperity. The prosperity gospel of the current generation promises that God will grant EMOTIONAL prosperity. But then, when a Christian feels sad or anxious, they believe Jesus failed them. I've seen too many young adults abandon their faith due to unmet expectations of emotional well-being. The prosperity gospel is correct about WHAT God will give his children. But it's dead wrong about WHEN. College students - sometimes we trust Jesus in spite of our feelings, not because of them. Just like some Christians faithfully struggle through poverty, some may struggle emotionally.

We live in a broken world, and we are broken people. But one day, Jesus will return and fix EVERYTHING that is broken. And an eternity of joy and blessing awaits God's children. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see… or feel!
