THE PARADOX OF HAPPINESS

The more we pursue happiness, the more unhappy we become. Why? Because I'm focusing my attention and energy on myself. Self-obsession is a recipe for misery, not happiness.
Instead, we worship Him and love & serve others. We care about causes bigger than ourselves. This practice is a recipe for better mental health and a satisfied life!
This is why, on average, churchgoing people are much happier than non-church going people, those who live with others are happier than those who live alone, married people are happier than unmarried people, and parents are happier than those without children.
Considering others gets my eyes off of myself! We push students who feel depressed to get off of social media (a narcissism and discontentment incubator) to volunteer and serve others. And it works! Jesus created us this way, and he said so.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” - Matthew 6:33
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40 🙏🙏
